Kostas Stergiopoulos

the myth of Pygmalion and Galatea by Jean-Leon Gerome (c. 1890).

If it’s called this way, then it must be love

the thing that pushes me with such certainty

with such  eagerness

Dark as despair , strong as hope

Never has it run

so warm the blood into my veins.

It came  in as a tornado , split me in two

opening impetuously doors and windows.

It’s not called love, it’s called fever.

Heavy as pregnancy,

birth which doesn’t come.

You never know what’s going to be born:

demon or angel?

As  soft as a fluff, a feather, a down

on one hand it raises you

                                       to the highest top

on the other it throws you to the abyss.

You become heavier and lighter.

As you  lose the earth under your feet.

Δεν ξέρεις τι θα γεννηθεί: δαίμονας ή άγγελος;
