Eftychia Panayiotou

Auguste Renoir, Dance in the city, 1883

Just before you rose

Don't say you did not long for the feathers of the peacock,
for a dress sweeping the dance floor with a waltz.
And if your crown was finally stolen by the heartbeat
when the boldest looked you in the eye
don't call him a conqueror;

he was down on his knees.

Eftychia Panayiotou , Dancers, 2014

Chryssanthie Polyzou

Alain Resnais , Hiroshima mon amour

Ode to defeat

Oh those unfullfilled loves
Lives that lack
the middle vowels
joys that lost their exclamation mark
and sank into dots.

Men who were scared
to look Eros in the eye,
coward anchorites,
enthusiasts of Perdition,
I want to praise your defeats.

Chryssanthie Polyzou

 Claim

And it was fair your claim
flesh of the borrowed fire
substitute for passion
my transposed motive
it was fair the claim
for love beyond
the one I was entitled to give you.

Aπαίτηση

Titos Patrikios, Like the sea

Michalis Ecomomou , along the shore

Like the sea

She was exactly like the sea
never surrended to the sun
nor cared to seduce him.
She became beautiful a little before sunrise
or a little after sunset.

Simpligads

Everything 's here

Love, desire, deprivation,
delusion, desperation, betrayal

Everything 's here
dressed in fire
celebrating in danger

It spreads like ink  despair

Who can crash the wind?

Ποιος μπορεί να συντρίψει τον άνεμο;

Nikos Karouzos

Pierre Bonnard , Le cabinet de toilette

Woman obstinacy of Asia

You are a continent of breasts from the depths of races
wandering like the moon
pain is a curl and your love is mercury
woman obstinacy of Asia.
When you throw a glance at the valleys to mellow
as the winds make it travel to the heights
you reap the branches and you pour poison into the moon
like a murder alone you reside in consciousness
conspiring against the divinities of the birds
you with the black river hair
you again and again with the dark eyes
I tell the sun to stand with  no kindness
ripping the large colour of the dream
the sun to fight you with noisy brimstone
and ruin all the memory that tortures me.
Those were the times that brought me to your steps
vegetal dinosaurs celestial amplitude
a loose beam of blood ready to scatter
when I shouted with no answer: I want to become blue.
You came to stay till death
with purple reflections from the limbs
I asked but never found out where you got the darkness
In mystic streams you lock your sound
alone with that explosive voice of silence.
You came to stay till  far off dusk
went across bodies still on a journey.
I haven't lived and the beauty of Attica is my whole journey.
In all those sorrows singing
I know nothing of the weapon of oblivion.

Nikos Karouzos ( The doe of stars , 1962)
