Giorgis Pavlopoulos, Silence

Photo by Rene  Groebli , the eye of love

Silence

Silence is an unknown woman
that comes at night.
She walks  up the stairs
with no sound of footsteps
she enters the room
and sits on my bed.
She puts  her ring on me
and kisses me on the lips.
I  undress her.
She then gives me the  needles
and the three colours
red  black and yellow.
I  start  embroidering
on her skin
everything  I  haven’ t told you
and  am never going to tell you anymore.

Giorgis Pavlopoulos

Dionysis Kapsalis

Frederic Lord Leighton , Flaming June, 1895

Let me tell you the myth of my earthquake.
Unspeakable gold your words, unspeakable bracelets your kisses.
Your ankle, and turned  into ashes the whole world, the seashore.

Dionysis Kapsalis

So foolish lovers'
promises
leaves rustling
false oracles
and hackneyed
lips bleed
in fake kisses
the tongue stumbles
upon those impertinent oaths
yet this story
"once upon a time"
carries on well in fairy tales
but in life
very rarely
"they lived happily ever after."

Angeliki Lalou

Livaditis Tassos

If I were offered the whole eternity
without you,
I 'd rather have a tiny moment
by your side.

Charalambos Giannakopoulos

                            Giovanni Giacometti

It's dangerous to open your door
 to unknown kids

I  have this habit to open
when they ring my bell,
without looking through the eyehole
or even ask who it is.

And one day - I know -
I 'll regret it. I ' ll open

and it will be me standing at the doorstep:
twelve years old ,  barefoot
holding The Adventures of Tom Sawyer
 under my arm
and a small penknife in my pocket
and I 'll look at me  speechless.

I  know it. It s the time. It’s the distance.
The unreachable of the sea,
that waves once in a while your parts. I know it.

Let me live for a  while the impossible.

Manolis Anagnostakis, Dedication

Edward Hopper, Room in New York ,1932

Dedication
For the lovers who got married
For the house that got built
For the kids that   grew up
For the ships docked
For the battle won
For the prodigal son  returned
For all those  things finished without  hope anymore

Manolis Anagnostakis , 1962

Giorgos Markopoulos, on Sunday afternoons

                      Elias Passisis, Athens, 1982

On  Sunday afternoons , the doors of the blocks of flats
remind me of some old mansions, mausoleums
left forgotten.
And if they  happen to have in their entrance an ivy
or any other climbing plant, then so much for the worse.

Here our girlfriends have slept, anonymous and strangers.
They could not stand to choose
even their  only chance left:
to remain sentimental.

You turn on the light. You turn off the light.
I want to love you more than anything.
You turn on the light. You turn off the light.
An old religious lady is feeding the cats in the skylight.
You  play unsuspicious. Long hair, long legs,
naked.
The wind takes your dress.

Giorgos Markopoulos

Now I have not even your shadow
as a back to lean against
as a fake companion

now I can only write
as if the whole world
was my one and only receiver.

Sotiris Selavis

Lili Zografou

Auguste Rodin
“Don’t make me hear all the nonsense  about  erotic eternity. Every beauty is eternity. Whatever I see , whatever I hear , whatever I touch, soil, light, is a part of eternity. Eternity is not what lasts in time – cause then block of flats and sky scrapers would have primacy- but what unrepeatable seals a moment.  The erotic spasm is an eternity, even if it s  not reflected anywhere”
Lili Zografou

Frederick Leighton, "the fisherman ad the siren"

If you  ever find yourself
in the big spaces  of silence
when the eyes get filled with waves

Wait.

After the western wind
in the next round
a little curly mermaid will come
hoping you have gills too.
