Giorgis Manoussakis, Madadayo

From the film "Madadayo" by Akira Kurosawa

“It takes life to love life.”
                                                                                                      Edgar Lee Masters

Madadayo (not yet)

No, I 'm not ready yet
I may never be

as long as the scent
of  jasmine remains
in the garden outside
the swallows on the telephone wires.
As long as the slanting  rain hits the windowpane
and the sea wave is foaming.
As long as the orange imitates
the roundness of the earth and the bee
embraces each and every flower.

As long as my sight discovers unknown land
in the pages of a book uncut
and my  hearing ecstatically follows
the trills  of an unseen violin.

As long as I  get my daily share
of the treasures of the world.

Giorgis Manoussakis

Edgar Lee Masters

Fortouni Julia

Iakovos Rizos, Athenian evening (on the terrace), 1897

It' s always the words

No music
ever could
ever would

it bleeds inside
like a thorn
like a startle

midday
a swan
a velvet look
a butterfly

it 's always the words
your words

Julia Fortouni, Bite of writing, Mandragoras  2015

                                            Alexandre Cabanel, fallen angel

Love the cruel despair

Morning digging again
the holes of its tasks
hung above
every ending
strips with the flies of our sensitivity
stuck upon them
those finest insects of our inner decay.
But Love is the cruelest despair
it does not contain its ending
like all comforting things
in nature.
It survives before redemption
as if redemption never existed
as if ending was only
the beginning of sorrow...
Oh! I can do nothing anymore
to raise the breeze
of my existence
only by admiring the flawless
geometry of invisible time
waiting for you to pass through
I come to an  impetuous   death
beside you
and I call it light
the black wing that touches me.

Summer always arrives from the sea

As it is flickering the light in the  dusk
sorrow turns greyish in the water,
but no matter how much Spring got entangled
in the dishevelled tamarix of our mood,
our solitude bollards  made space
so  it is still open our  chest passage
to welcome the summer boats,
with eros rowers recruited,
whose  thin  masts
have already appeared in our time horizon.
