Max Ernst , Self Portrait, Köln 1909

The scar

The injury heals,
its lips mingle like crimpson curtains
and years after  a mark lingers in its place
a rosy scar he bows and kisses.

They all love their wounds
They hide them behind  beautiful unwrinkled cloths,
but they know on which part of their body  they flourished,
withered, ate skin and flesh of their own.

That is why they love them
and  in times of solitude, when no one sees them,
they  bow and kiss them in adoration
their deep, dark wounds.
